STAND UP FOR MALALA- STAND UP FOR THE GIRLS

It is an important issue considering the fact that girls were denied equal opportunity in the past by the government and the policy makers. Girls are trapped in an intergenerational vicious cycle of poverty, illiteracy and deprivation due to their primitive nature and thus isolated from the mainstream of the life.

CT Group upholds the importance of education of girls and rightly believes in the slogan “Stand up for Malala –Stand up for the girls’’. In order to pay tribute to Malala Yousafzai, an astonishingly brave 15 year old girl who survived an assassination attempt for her determined efforts to defend girls’ education in Pakistan, after the Taliban outlawed schools for girls in her native Swat Valley.

With this in mind, the Chairman of CT Group, Mr Charanjit Singh Channi, has launched a benevolent project, ‘I am Malala’ in the 20th year of its initiation. This noble venture has been embarked to provide assistance to the seventeen girls hailing from families who fall below the poverty line. Under this welfare scheme, CT Public School will augment support to under-privileged girls by extending free education, guidance for skill development, coaching in a game of choice and stationery. Mr. Channi believes that no meaningful development of the girls can take place without enhancing literacy and promoting their educational standards.
